The world of Fallout 76 is a dangerous place. There's other players, malicious robots and even new over-intelligent ghouls to fight with. Surviving the wasteland in Fallout 76 requires more than just the ability to build a base, it demands the best weapons be found and used, especially when it comes to exploring the high level areas.

There are a few different types of weapons in Fallout 76. You'll have a lot of choice where weapons are concerned in Fallout 76.

The best weapons as below:

Combat Shotgun - whether you're facing off against the fearsome Scorched, or another player, a shotgun can be a really great choice. Get in close enough (and with how inaccurate much of the shooting is in Fallout 76, you should be fine) with a Combat Shotgun in hand and you'll blast away all who stand in your way.

Laser Rifle - Being one of the most versatile weapons in the game, having the laser rifle in your arsenal of weapons is a good idea if you want to play the game to the fullest. With having the most customizable options in the game, you can modify this gun to your heart's content.

Gauss Rifle - The gauss rifle is easily the best rifle weapon found throughout the game. It can either be fired rapidly by using the trigger as fast as possible or can be charged up to deal more damage.

The gauss rifle can be upgraded to have more modifications, such as different types of scopes, stocks, and barrels to further improve this deadly weapon. With a base damage count of 110, the gauss rifle is nothing to be taken lightly out in the wasteland.

Assault Rifle - This is one of the better rifles you can find in Fallout 76, making a must-get gun. It can be modified to whatever you wish it to be. This is a good gun to hang onto throughout the game, and the modifiers you add onto it can make it last even longer.

The only downside is that the ammo type is hard to find in the game; if you can find a steady supply of 5.56mm in the wasteland, then this rifle will get you far in life.

How to craft weapons
At any Weapon Workbench, you can make your own weapons provided that you have the relevant materials. These require recipes for the relevant weapon, meaning you'll need to scavenge the world for notes with the relevant weapon, or to break down any copies of that weapon you have crafted. This is also conveniently where you repair items, which is important because broken weapons do nothing for you and perfect condition weapons can be scrapped for an increased chance to obtain the recipe for that weapon.
